NEW YORK_HRF PARTICIPATES AT HIGH-LEVEL INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS MEETING

High-level officials including President Martelly, Prime Minister Lamothe, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former President Bill Clinton met on Thursday, September 27th in New York City to discuss support for Haiti.  The purpose of the meeting was to share strategies for maintaining the momentum of reconstruction with 20+ representatives of bilateral and multilateral donors.

 

First HRF disbursement ($25 million) approved

Funds to co-finance WB budget support operation for critical services delivery

At the request of the Interim Haiti Reconstruction Commission (IHRC) the HRF approved the transferring of $25 million to one of its partner entities, the World Bank, to co-finance an Emergency Development Policy Operation that provides $30 million for budget support. The total package of $55 million will help the Government of Haiti to deliver critical services at the beginning of the recovery period.

Colombia contributes US$ 3.2 million to the HRF - Additional contributions are expected

The government of Colombia signed an agreement and has already transferred US$3.2 million to the Haiti Reconstruction Fund (HRF) following anannouncement made during the Summit for the Future of Haiti, held on June 2nd in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Colombia is the second South American country to join the HRF, after Brazil. Other contributors tothe HRF include Norway, Australia, and Estonia.

Pledges Up To 11 Billion Dollars Confirmed during the World Summit for the Future of Haiti.

Action Plan presented to serve as road map during the next 10 years.

More than 500 people attended the Summit for the Future of Haiti held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, last June 2 2010. Delegations from more than 50 countries and international development agencies confirmed pledges made during the last international meeting held in New York on March 31 2010 (Towards a New Future for Haiti), and announced new contributions to support the implementation of the Action Plan for the Recovery and Development of Haiti.
